Reflexology - a step in the right direction

Reflexology is a non-invasive, pain free therapy that can be very effective at reducing stress, and promoting well being.  It is based on a theory that is similar to acupuncture - that points on the feet, hands and face are linked by energy lines to correspond with different areas of the body. It is considered to be over 5000 years old, with evidence of use in China, Egypt and other ancient cultures. Reflexology as we know it today, was developed by Eunice Ingham in the 1930s - it is know one of the most popular complementary therapies in the UK, and is used alongside many medical conditions such as:

  • PMS
  • Asthma
  • Poor Kidney function
  • Anxiety
  • PMS
  • Cancer
  • Sinusitis
  • Headaches
  • Cardiovascular problems
  • Stress

By applying pressure or circular movements to the points, the aim is to bring about a state of balance in the mind and body. Most people find this treatment to be a very relaxing experience and the ideal therapy for someone who is new to complementary therapies.

After cleansing the feet, a specialist reflexology cream is applied to the feet. This cream remains has been specially prepared for reflexologists to use, as it stays on the foot for longer than most creams. Alternatively a soft tea tree or peppermint scented talcum powder is applied.

The client remains fully clothed, apart from the feet, and the therapeutic treatment can be preceded by a lovely holistic foot treatment involving foot soak, scrub and balm- all with Pinks Boutique Organic products. https://www.pinksboutique.com

This therapy is suitable for most adults, but there are certain conditions which may require your Doctor's permission eg poorly controlled diabetes, and peripheral vascular disease. Gout is a contraindication while it is active, as is having unhealed wounds or fractures to the feet.
